Our Match Letter arrived and we are moving to......

Rochester NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bryson and I are so so so excited for this new adventure. The Plastic Surgery Program there is phenomenal. The best part of it all is that Bryson will only have to train for 5 years (there are only 5 Plastics program in the country that are 5 years, all the rest are 6 or 7 years long). We will be moving in the beginning of June. It will be very hard to say goodbye to the city, but Rochester here we come!!!!!

Luck of the Irish

Well....we matched!!!!!! This means that Bryson and I are definitely heading off to a plastic surgery residency this Summer. We got an e-mail at 12:00 pm titled "did I match?" My heart was beating so fast that I could barley open it. I felt the greatest sigh of relief when I read the word "congratulations". You can call it the luck of the Irish, but it really had nothing to do with luck. Bryson worked his tail off these past 4 years to match in Plastic Surgery. We know we have been so blessed to have this great opportunity. Now we have to wait until Thursday to find out where we are going. The hardest part is over. We know we are going somewhere, and that is all that matters :)

In addition to our great news about the match, we had the most wonderful day exploring the city. . Our activities included the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Central Park Petting Zoo, Macy's Flower Show, Madison Square Park, and a fabulous dinner at Max Brenner's. The day could not have been any better! To top everything off, Daniel crawled (not commando- but the real thing) for the first time today. We were so excited!!
Tired after a long day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Shannon and Kevin (and sweet little Jordan) are here for the weekend. It has been a great 2 days hanging out together. Today we are going to the Central Park Petting Zoo and hope to catch a view of the St. Patrick's Day parade. It is probably the biggest parade in NYC (except for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, of course) so it will be a good time. I will post some pics tonight :)

Sick to my stomach

So I have been feeling very sick these past few days. No... it is not a remnant of the flu that I had last week. It is the thought that we will be getting a letter a week from tomorrow that will tell us where we will be living for the next 6 years. I have never felt anxiety about anything as I do about this. I am having the most difficult time watching and waiting for some computer to decide my fate. AHHHH!!!! I seriously feel as though I am losing my mind. I keep wondering if we ranked the programs correctly or if another order would have been better. I also continue to think about the residencies. Did any of them rank us? If not, we will be staying in NYC for another year while Bryson works on a few research projects at Cornell and re-applies. That would not be the most ideal thing, but I know it is best to remain optimistic about any outcome.

I don't think I can take this type of stress much longer- seriously. Normally I am almost narcoleptic at night when my head hits the pillow, but recently I find myself a ball of nerves at night as my mind races about our future.

We will find out on Monday if we match at all or if we will have to re-apply next year. Then Thursday we open the letter (does this sound like a mission call or what?) that tells us the residency that we have been matched with. We have already signed a contract with all the programs we applied to that states that if we do match, we will go there. It is a done deal.

So I guess I just need to relax and realize that things will turn out well. Bryson and I have been thoughtful and prayerful about our rank list and I know our future is bright. I just will have to deal with the anxiety and lack of sleep until next Thurday!!

The two cousins reunited

I guess we love to travel. Despite only being home a week, we decided to head down to DC for the weekend. It had been far too long since we had seen the Richards- so we were excited to spend time with Bryson's fam. It was a very low key weekend which was perfect for me as Daniel and I had been battling the flu the whole week :(

I had so much fun just watching Daniel and Jordan play together. They are adorable with each other. Daniel is learning how to crawl (he is mastering the comando crawl)- but Jordan is already a pro. He is all over the place and will be walking very soon. Hopefully Daniel picked up on some of Jordan's slick moves :)

Shannon (the family photographer) took some great pictures that I had to post. Thanks Shan!

Daniel showing off his new tooth coming in. This has been the source of much fussiness these days :(

His favorite trick- raising his arms when we say "Daniel is SO big!"

Back in NYC...home sweet home!

Well, we have finally returned home. Who would have thought that our small 500 square foot apartment could look so good. It feels great to be home! Bryson's parents were in town this weekend. We visited the Natural History Museum and went to a very unique exhibit. It was a room full of exotic butterflies. Daniel was amazed at all the colorful bugs flying around. In fact, one landed on his noise when we first walked into the room.

I have missed NYC pizza, so we hit up Patsy's pizza the first night we were back. It tasted better than ever. We also went to Atlantic Grill- one of Bryson's favorite places. It was fantastic!
We have two weeks until we find out where we match. Here are the possible places that we may be moving to in June:
(not in any order)
Staying in NYC
New Hampshire
Wake Forest
We cannot wait to find out where Bryson will be training for his plastic surgery residency. It is going to be a fun 6 years :)
