Lilacs

This weekend we ventured out to the Rochester Lilac Festival. The flowers were not as great as last year's since we have had a warm spring and the lilacs bloomed early, but it was a fun night with the family.

It is held at Highland Park, which is only a little over a mile away, so we decided to walk there. And you will notice that even though it is mid-May, we are all bundled up. Gotta love Rochester!

Do you guys remember the band 10,000 maniacs (Natalie Merchant sang with them)? They played that night and I actually really like a few of their songs- so it was fun to hear them live.

The highlight of Daniel's night was scoring a big bag of 'fluffy candy'. After he had it smeared all over his face, coat, and my stroller- we decided that it was probably his last bag of the fluffy candy.

And my personal favorite- the homemade Henry's Kettle Corn. We got a HUGE bag last year too and finished it off within hours. It is the best!!

It was dark, but here are a few of the lilacs- so pretty and I cannot describe how wonderful is smelled as we were walking around.

The next pics are for my mom who helped me put together this paint-on chalkboard. It turned out great and Daniel and his buddies have loved drawing their 'cars' on it.

Hope you had a great weekend too!

It is good to be a mother

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers and to anyone who has made a difference in the lives of children. It is a gift to spend time with the most angelic and perfect people on this Earth!
I want to thank my mother for all she has done for me. I love her so much!

My Mother's Day started off great. I woke up to the sound of this little critter babbling 'mamma'. Not a bad way to start the day :)

Bryson let me hang out in bed for 45 minutes (I don't remember the last time this happened) while he made breakfast and took care of the boys.
He them asked me to come out to eat breakfast and I saw two adorable little ones sitting in a NEW DOUBLE STROLLER. I have been wanting one ever since James was born and he picked out the PERFECT one. What a guy! Too bad it was snowing (yes- snowing) yesterday or else we would have gone out for a nice walk.

Then Daniel presented me with a very heartfelt card that he designed himself.
After that, we all ate a delicious breakfast of French Toast, eggs, bacon, and juice made by my dear hubby.

Then it was off to church!
How did I get so lucky?
Hope you all had a great day too!!
** and my mother's day would not have been complete without a little gift left by james. I crawled into bed last night after he had fallen asleep on our bed to find that my side of the bed was SOAKED in pee. Bryson was asleep and it was too late to do anything about it, so I put down a towel and crawled into bed. I woke up a little damp this morning! Thanks James :)

Little Red Wagon

A very early birthday present arrived this week from Grandma Bigler - an adorable little red wagon.
It has been a HUGE hit around here and we have spent much of this week strolling around the neighborhood in our newest ride2 happy little boys
dad taking them on a ride

thanks grandma- we love it!

And james wanted to show you his favorite face. His tongue is always sticking out- I love it. And today he said 'mamma' for the first time. He has no idea what he is saying, but it still made me melt when I heard him say it :)

Spring!

This post is more like 10 posts in one, but I have been terrible at getting on blogger these days. This is basically our spring in a nut shell- hope you enjoy!

We went to D.C. last weekend for Bryson to attend a Plastic Surgery Conference and we got the better end of the deal as we hung out with Jordan and Shannon and the rest of Bryson's fam the whole weekend.

I wish I had more photos- but I never seemed to have my camera.

Cute cousins!!

My mom came into town the week before. We had quite a week!! She has more energy than anyone I know and were able to do so many fun things while she was here. Not only did we tour Rochester, but we weeded and cleaned out my whole yard and garden, started my seeds for the garden, and painted my basement! Thanks mom! You are the best and we miss you.

My mom turned 52 this week. She looks amazing and I actually get a little tired of everyone asking if she is my sister. I know she looks young, but do I really look like I have a 50 year-old sister? Not sure how to take this one.

We had a little red velvet cake and ice cream to celebrate.

The weather has been beautiful here. I am so thrilled that spring is here. My flowers are all blooming and everything is (finally) turning green.

I would like to introduce you to Slimy the snail. He is Daniel's first pet and actually survived a whole week under his care.

I asked Daniel to pose with Slimy and he stood up tall next to him. I think he is trying to escape while Daniel is not looking.

James turned 6 months!! Where has the time gone? We had his check-up this week. He is still huge! 21 pounds and 29.5 inches tall!

Mom and James

Our pictures are a little out of order, but we went to the Peter Whitmer Farm in Fayette, NY. It was a beautiful drive and very cool to visit where the church was first organized.

Daniel outside the farm house.

We also went to the Rochester Zoo. Daniel is with my friend Laura Shipp who happens to be a zookeeper at the zoo. She gave us a great tour of the zoo and even showed Daniel how to use his toy cars to play with the seals.

And what would be a visit from Grandma if we did not go to Chuck E Cheese at least once while she was here?

This was Daniel and James first bath together.

And last but not least, Easter! We had a great dinner with some friends. The best time was had by Daniel and his friends at the 'kid' table.

the delicious spread

and we were so happy that the Easter Bunny stopped by. He left a few fun toys for the boys.

maybe James was a little nervous when we told him that a large bunny came and brought him toys in the middle of the night!
