Our sweet little girl is here!

Our Emily Marie Richards came into the world on October 18, 2013 at 10:14 AM weighing 7 pounds 8 oz. I started to have contractions around 4 AM that were painful, but they were 15 minutes apart, so I tried to just relax and labor at home for as long as I could. Around 7 AM I was in pain, but the contractions were still 10 minutes apart, so I sat on the couch with Andrew and tried to breath through the pain. I told Bryson to take Danny to school, and then we would leave when got back. Yet by the time he was home, the contractions were 5 minutes apart and I was in transition! We bolted out the door for what was one of the longest car rides in my life. I was in so much pain and no that there would be no time for an epidural. My goal was to stay calm and breath through it all. When we arrived at he hospital, Bryson grabbed a wheelchair and wheeled me into the lobby. It was then that I felt the need to push. I started to panic. The receptionist wanted to us to wait for someone to wheel me up to L & D, but I knew if we waited any longer, I would have the baby in the lobby. I yelled for Bryson to take me up and away we went!
As we reached the front desk, the nurses saw that I was ready to go and wheeled me in. The OB came in and I started to push. It was amazing how calm I was. I had heard of people thinking about the words to hymns and peaceful thoughts during labor, so I tried to do that and it amazingly it worked. Next thing I knew I felt a lot of pain (and I screamed) and her head was out and soon enough they were placing her in my arms. Similar to how I felt when I had James (which was also a very quick and hectic labor) I was in a little shock and my emotions had not caught up to when I was currently looking at- this beautiful, perfect baby girl. She had a great set up lungs and let everyone in the room know that. She was so strong. I loved her so much.
A few hours later my mom brought the boys to meet her. She had them bathed and looking so cute. It was so fun to watch them meet her for the first time (especially Danny- he was smitten). James was very curious about the technicalities of the birth. He wanted to know how the baby came out, if it hurt, what my stomached looked like now. He was not so much interested in Emily and barley even glanced at her. Luckily all that has changed and he is not very much connected and interested in her.
It was an amazing day. Can't believe she is finally here! We are all in love with Emily.
